Hünfeld is a traditional, lively town in the heart of Germany and Europe with dynamic economic development, surrounded by the landscapes of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. The good transport links to the motorways A 7, A 66 and A 4, A 5 on the Frankfurt-Kassel railway line with train station and IC stop as well as the nearby ICE train station in Fulda, contributed to the favourable development as did the excellent infrastructure with schools, leisure facilities and good medical care, as well as the willingness to perform and the good level of education of the people.

Hünfeld has around 17,000 inhabitants with almost 8,000 job and earning opportunities and its economic success is reflected in the entire surrounding area as well as in neighbouring Thuringia due to a positive commuting balance. The good job offer, the infrastructure and inexpensive, fully developed construction sites in prime locations make the population of Hünfeld grow.

Its economic focus is on the food industry, mechanical engineering and construction. In addition, Hünfeld is also a city of authorities as a location of the Hessian judiciary, the Federal Police and the competence center of the Hessian Central Office for Data Processing for the Judiciary.
