Gaalbern-celebration

The Hünfelder Gaalbernfest is well-known nationwide and was celebrated in the Abbey District from Friday to Monday, 25 to 28 August 2023.

In 2024, the Gaalbernfest will take place from Friday to Monday, 23 to 26 August 2024.

The Gaalbernfest has been firmly anchored in the Hünfelder calendar for more than two decades. The Gaalbernfest was founded in 1999 on the occasion of the Landeskindertrachtentreffens and took place in the city centre. After the Hessentag 2000 in Hünfeld, which became a crowd magnet, the Gaalbernfest was firmly anchored in the city's events and has since been celebrated in the Weindorf in the Abbey district.

At the end of August/beginning of September, numerous Hünfelder and guests meet each year at the Gaalbernfest for a varied cultural and entertainment programme with wine, beer and regional specialities.

From Friday with the opening of the wine village to Monday, when the festival ends with the Amtsbockbieranstich, the monastery district turns into a party mile with lots of programme points on stage and culinary highlights in the wine village.
