The Advent market in Hünfelder Winter takes place every year on the first weekend of Advent from Friday to Sunday in the city centre of Hünfelder. Around the town hall there is a Christmas magic and a great program. This year the Hünfelder Advent Market takes place from 1 to 3 December 2023.

The stands open on Friday, December 1st, from 12 noon. The official start of the Advent market is at 4 p. m. with the traditional push-up of the Christmas pyramid, the alphorn blowers “Die Siebenschläfer” and the children’s choir of the Hünfelder Johann-Adam-Förster-Schule. The Advent magic takes place again around the town hall. The Rathausgasse is also used for Christmas activities – especially the little ones get their money's worth with children's make-up, glitter tattoos and biscuit house crafts.

Also worth seeing is the performance of “Frau Holle” by the Story Stage fairy tale theatre. A highlight on Saturday, 2 December, at 3 p. m. will be the visit of Santa Claus with his reindeer – radiant children’s eyes are pre-programmed. On Friday and Saturday evenings there is an après-ski party until 9 p. m. On Sunday, December 3, the Theater Nebenbei & Sorgenfrei provides special eye-catchers with walk-acts as Snow Elf and Christmas Troll. Christmas is also celebrated at the Advent watercolour workshop for children at the “Konrads City Kids” childcare centre in Hauptstraße. On all three days there is a creative program from 2 pm to 6 pm.

There is also musical entertainment: On Friday at 6 p. m. the gospel choir “Sisters in Action” from Wehrda sings, on Saturday at 1. 30 p. m. a brass class of the Jahn School plays, “Piano’n Voices” can be heard from 5 p. m. under the town hall arcades. The choir “VoCapella” sings on Sundays at 12. 30 p. m. , the Stadtkapelle Hünfeld plays at 2 p. m. , and “Sabinett” performs at 5. 30 p. m.

A visit to the exhibitors and sales stands is also worthwhile. There are, among other things, delicacies from Steinberg im Vogtland, Gaalbern soup, pizza made from lye dough, confectionery products, crepes, pea soup, potato buffers, skewers and of course mulled wine, fire tongs bowl and punch in different flavours. And of course you can browse between Advent and Christmas decorations.
